Home Banking has New Features

What is Enhanced Authentication? Enhanced Authentication is a security feature that uses multiple factors to authenticate our Home Banking/Bill Pay site to our end users and to validate end users when they log on to their Home Banking/Bill Pay site.

Why did we introduce Enhanced Authentication?  Online theft is a serious concern amount financial institutions, regulatory examiners, and end users.  As the incidence of online theft has risen, financial institutions have been encouraged to implement multi-factor levels of authentication.  Enhanced Authentication adds additional security to our Home Banking/Bill Pay platform and will better protect our end users from falling victim to Internet crimes.

How does Enhanced Authentication work?  With Enhanced Authentication the Home Banking/Bill Pay logon process will change, but the information you enter to log on does NOT change.

  • When you enroll in Enhanced Authentication, you select a secret Passmark Image and Passmark Phrase known only to you.

What is a Passmark Image and Passmark Phase? This is a picture and phrase that proves to you, that you are logging on to our actual Genesee Valley FCU site and not a bogus site.

  • If you use two computers to access your Home Banking/Bill Pay site( for example from home and work), you can register both computers as devices you use for home Banking/Bill Pay.  If you access Home Banking/Bill Pay from a computer that you did not register, you will be asked to provide the answer to one of your challenge questions.

What are Challenge Questions?  You will be asked 3 Challenge Questions, when you sign on to a computer you have never used before with Home Banking/Bill Pay.  ( Or you have deleted your cookies)

  • Enhanced authentication remembers your computer by assigning a unique identifier (cookie) to each computer you use to access Home Banking/bill Pay using standard cookies.  The cookie is used to store the indentification information only.  No personal or private data is stored.

Accounts Alerts?  This feature will allow you to be notified for selected reasons upon your request.  Payment reminders, transfer confirmations for future dated transfer, deposit notifications and low balances.

If you have questions logging onto Home Banking, please contact anyone of our branches and they will be happy to help.
